Analysis of the Real Instituto Elcano (ARI)
The analyses are short pieces –around 2,500 to 3,000 words– on aspects of international affairs considered of relevance to Spain, its foreign policy or its security. In broad terms the ARI are intended to have a predictive bearing on events. All ARI can be consulted on our website, indexed by area of research, with many of them being available in English.

Working Papers (WP)
This are longer documents of an academic nature –usually between 10,000 and 15,000 words long with footnotes and bibliographies- on aspects of international affairs regarded of significance to Spain or on different aspects of Spain’s foreign policy and security. They can be consulted on the website and, in many cases, printed versions are also available. A large proportion of these papers are also available in English.

Barometer of the RIE (BRIE)
The BRIE is a thrice yearly survey conducted in February, June and November focusing solely on the opinions, judgements and attitudes of Spaniards on all aspects of international affairs and Spanish foreign policy (attitudes on defence, the image of Spain and of other countries, Spain’s position vis-à-vis the European Union, public perceptions of dangers and threats, etc).It is structured in two basic modules: a fixed set of questions that provide a time series on a number of essential parameters, and a second set of questions relating to current events which vary from one survey to the next.

Elcano Reports
This is a series of documents which the Institute began to publish at the end of 2004. Their aim is to promote the debate of leading topics in the field of international affairs that are of special relevance to Spain. The reports are the result of the in-depth study of a particular theme of political importance by a team of experts, covering a wide range of expertise and political convictions, with a special emphasis on the presentation of practical policy recommendations.

Yearbooks
With a broader public opinion in mind, the Institute has published various books focused on current international politics.
